Adult Education

Throughout the year, Temple Shalom has a variety of adult education classes that are open for the entire congregation. While many of these courses will address Jewish texts, others will be directed at hands-on Jewish learning including Jewish cooking, the study of Yiddish culture and language and grief courses. Please find summaries and course materials below from past courses and future courses. We learn in the Talmud that studying for the sake of studying is a mitzvah in itself. May we all gain from the beauty of studying and learning together.

Adult Education

An adult learning mini-series with student Rabbi Elana Rosen-Brown

Three Sunday morning classes from 10:00- 11:00 a.m.

January 27, February 3, February 10

(conveniently scheduled during Religious School)

In preparation for Temple Shalom's upcoming congregational trip to Israel in December 2013, we are pleased to offer an adult learning mini-series on Israeli history and culture.  Over the course of three sessions we will study the concept of Israel in the torah and Jewish prayer, and ground ourselves in a comprehensive history of Israel from Biblical times to Present.  This will give us historical background prior to our next Adult Education series which will follow on contemporary Israeli culture and politics.

This course is for you whether you have no prior knowledge of Israle or if you have visited many times! Teens are also encouraged to attend.  Join us for one, two, or all trhee sessions and contribute to the conversation!
